Western Outworks

Situated above the South barrack casemates are part of the Western Outworks where four guns were placed, along with gunpowder rooms and a shifting lobby. During WWII many of these rooms were modified, and recently structural supports have been built in the entrances to prevent further structural decay.

The gun emplacements to the rear of these structures would have provided firing cover down the South Ditch.
